Just a note on Windows 7: I've enjoyed my transition from Windows XP Pro to Windows 7 Pro and I completely agree with Olin regarding the speed of load times. Lots of new and exciting features to play with and I haven't seen too much I'm unhappy with. Most of my older applications and games work great.
But, for those of you who are BIG gamers, you must realize it may be some time before all of your older and newer games will be capable of running on this brand new OS. If you want to see if they are compatible check this site out: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx
Being that there is a DRM issue with some games, Windows 7 may not even make it to the installation process. I discovered this site that will allow you to play some of those games without the DRM: http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/ (This means you will have to buy those games you already own all over again. In most cases it's worth it! No one really knows how much of a hassle you will endure if you decide to fix the problem on your own.)
