Walkman vs. iPod

Remember the Walkman? The article linked at the end of this post has a very interesting look at how far our portable music options have changed over the last 30 years.

A British 13-year-old swapped his iPod for a Walkman for one week.

It's hard to believe the Walkman is 30 years old. I'm only 29 but I can remember when the Sony Discman was the coolest thing to have. That was 1993 for me. It was an early Discman that didn't have anti-skip technology so the smallest bump would cause the CD to skip. Fast forward to now and look at how MP3 players are the only way to go for portable audio. Some that are smaller than a pack of gum and can hold thousands upon thousands of songs, a whole lot more than a cassette tape or a CD.

Wamego Webcams Restored to Service!

Check them out here if you've not seen them before. One is located about 200 feet up the tower at the corner of Highways 24 & 99. The other is on our office building in downtown Wamego. You can control both of them so you can choose what you want to look at - LIVE! Pretty neat stuff.

Mute Your Email!

Have you ever archived a conversation three or four times because you didn't need another update and it keeps popping up in your inbox? Some people call it a 'thread that won't die.' If you're part of a long conversation that isn't relevant, you can mute the conversation for good.

Just press 'm' on your keyboard for the shortcut when viewing the conversation, and new messages added to the conversation bypass your inbox . The thread will remain archived. If your address appears in the to: or cc: field, though, the conversation will pop back into your inbox ready for your attention. This is best used when you're receiving mail based on a mailing list.

Note: this only works if you're using webmail.
