WAMEGO, KS - At the May 9, 2009, 10th Annual Wamego Community Foundation Scholarship Award Banquet, WTC continued its support of local scholars by awarding five, $750 scholarships to graduating seniors from the area high schools served by WTC. The following students were presented with scholarships: - Kristopher Velasco, Wamego High School
- Brian Sixbury, Rock Creek High School
- Regina Palmeri, St Marys Academy
- Jami Rafferty, St Marys High School
- Cheyenne Thompson, Wabaunsee High School
Mike Rice represented WTC at the banquet and awarded the scholarship certificates to each of the winners. "I would challenge each of you scholarship winners to give serious consideration to returning back to these communities that have educated and nurtured each of you to this pivotal time in your life," said Rice, Assistant Manager of WTC. "Go get your education and life experiences elsewhere but consider returning to raise your children and build the future of these communities in which you grew up." WTC has always considered it important to give back to the education efforts of youth within each community it serves. These one-time scholarships were established in 1998 to reward those students who have excelled during their high school years. Students may contact their high school counselor for details. "Supporting the educational accomplishments of students in the areas WTC serves has long been an important priority for our company," said Steve Sackrider, General Manager of Wamego Telecommunication Company. "WTC and its employees appreciate the dedication and hard work that these students put forth to earn these scholarships. Congratulations to each of the winners for 2009." WTC Announces New, Ultra High-Speed Internet Rate
WAMEGO, KS - WTC Communications, Inc. announced the introduction of the newest Internet connection speed which is much faster than any other previous speeds the company has offered. This new connections speed will allow customers to download data at a 15mb rate. The upload data transfer speed is 3mb. Because of distance limitation over copper wiring this product may not be available in all areas served by WTC. "This newest high speed Internet connection is designed for those people who really need a much higher download and upload connection rate," said Steve Sackrider, general manager of WTC. "This speed may not be for the average Internet user, but there are certainly those customers whose business or personal needs may require this type of connection and this will be a great product for them." The company will still continue to offer the choice of six other Internet connection speeds depending on the customer's need. Those speeds range from 128k up to a 6.0mb download connection speed. The new connection speed will retail at $199.95 per month, plus tax. As an introductory offer, customers who stay on the service for 6 months will get one month free. Those who play Internet games and high volume business users may find this new 15mb download - 3mb upload connection speed important for their Internet usage. This high connection speed may not be available in all areas served by WTC. Customers can contact a customer service representative at 456-1000, or visit the WTC web site with any questions. WTC Increases Internet Connection Speed
WAMEGO, KS - WTC Communications, Inc. has announced that testing has been completed on a new rate of Internet connection speed that will replace the current 64k with a faster 128k download speed. The new speed will be offered at the same price of $23.95 per month. Customers will not need to do anything with their equipment to get connected at the new speed. All download and upload speeds for this service will be at the new 128k rate effective immediately. "Doubling the upload and download speeds for our customers from 64k to 128k is a good way for WTC to increase the value of our least expensive High Speed Internet connection without raising the price", said Steve Sackrider, general manager of the company. "We want customers to experience the benefits of surfing the Internet or checking email with a higher Internet connection speed." The company also offers six other Internet connection speeds which are faster than the new 128k High Speed Internet Service. Those speeds range from 384k up to a 15.0mb download connection speed. As people become more dependent upon the Internet for communications, information, and entertainment, the need for a faster connection to the Internet becomes more important.
